Test Drive 8: Purchase Agreements
Draft a purchase agreement to
get in writing some of the things that may result in a
legal dispute further down the line. Although this may
seem to imply a distrust of the other person involved
in the transaction, this document ensures that important
points, such as when and how payment will occur, how any
deposit that may be transferred will be handled or how
the lending of the car for inspection will be arranged,
are clear to both parties. If these points are not clear,
problems could result and one of the involved parties
could lose out in the end.
Be congenial when bringing up the
subject of a purchase agreement. Be sure to point out
that the purpose of such an agreement is to protect both
parties and to avoid confusion.
